Mid Summer Run Latest Update
Next Event: Sunday 23rd June 2019 @ 1pm

June 2015 saw the inaugural MID SUMMER RUN in the beautiful village of Castleconnell.

This is a CHARITY FUNDRAISING EVENT organised by the Parents Association of Castleconnell NS.

Find us on facebook.

All proceeds go to support the development of Astroturf Sports Facilities on the grounds of Castleconnell NS

for the entire community of Castleconnell.

Once again the village of Castleconnell will come alive on Sunday June 10th for the now annual Mid-Summer Run.
The purpose of this event is to raise much needed funds for a community astro turf pitch to be located at the back of Castleconnell National School. The school have the ideal location for this pitch and the idea is that the pitch will be available for use by the pupils of the school during school hours and by the community in the evenings and at weekends.
This is phase 1 of an extensive 3 phase community sports facility project which is supported by our local community partners ACM Community Games and Ahane Camogie Club.  We have also received generous support from other local sports clubs. Phase 1 is estimated to cost in excess of €150,000 with the overall project in the region of €400,000

Castleconnell is now the 3rd largest population centre in county Limerick after Newcastle west and Annacotty (Census 2016). Improving facilities in the village is crucial as there is nowhere of this type available to the young people of Castleconnell. This facility is not just for the school. The whole community has a vested interest in it and everyone is coming together as they recognise the importance of this for the village.

Last year’s Mid-Summer Run was a huge success with over 300 participants.
This year’s run promises to be even better. The 10km route is officially measured and licenced by Athletics Ireland. The 10km race is chip timed by our partners Titan Timing
Every child that takes part will receive a medal at the finish line.
The race will commence at the village hall which is located on the main street at 1.00 pm.

Registration is now live on www.midsummerrun.ie

Post-race refreshments will be provided in the village hall. There will also be a street barbeque.

This day would not be possible without the help of our sponsors.

In the last few years running this event we are grateful to have received huge support from the local community through donations, kilometer sponsorship, sponsorship of food, medals etc. all of which are acknowledged on our school Facebook page.

This promises to be a fantastic community event and a fun day out for all the family.
Please come along and support.
